The Atworth Autumn Show

Welcome to our Atworth Autumn Show web pages

You can find lots of information about the show - schedules, resources, rules, and other useful information.

The Atworth Autumn Show is an opportunity for everybody in the village to get together and show what they can do. There will be various categories, hopefully ensuring that there’s something to appeal to everyone whatever their age, although the emphasis will be on gardening and home crafts. There will also be certificates, prizes and trophies for winners.

The show is held annually on the first Saturday of September. The next one will be on Saturday, September 3rd 2007.

The show is held in the village hall. We encourage you to leave your car at home, as parking is very limited. Feel free to bring your entries in a wheel barrow! We're sure we could provide wheel barrow parking for quite a few people!

Who can enter?
Residents within the Parish of Atworth are entitled to enter. If you aren’t sure whether or not you qualify, please please contact us via the email address given below, or look at the contact details. We’ll check our map and let you know.

Children
There will be a section specifically for children (classed as under 16s), with a wide variety of classes. Children may also enter adult classes, but will have to pay the adult class fee.

Classes available
The classes are split into 7 categories: Vegetables, Fruit, Flowers, Baking, Home Crafts, Children and a Fun section. For the full list of classes, download the show schedule from the link below.

Costs
Entries received by Wednesday prior to show
    Adult classes:            20p per entry
    Children’s classes:    10p per entry
Entries received between Wednesday and 5pm Friday prior to show
    Adult classes:            30p per entry
    Children’s classes:    20p per entry

We regret that no entries can be received after 5:00pm on the Friday prior to show. This is due to the organisation involved in the show.

On the day
When you hand in your entry form, we will issue you with a unique candidate number. The village hall will be open from 8:30am on the morning of the show for you to bring in your entries. On arrival, please make sure you register, so that we can give you a set of cards with your candidate number on. The hall will be set up clearly marking where to display each entry. Please place one card with your candidate number underneath each of your entries, making sure the number is not visible. The hall will be closed at 10:00am. After this, the independent judges will inspect all entries and award places. The hall will once again be opened at 2:00pm, for anybody who wishes to see the entries. Winners will be announced, and trophies presented at 3:30pm, after which candidates are free to remove their entries. Any items remaining after 4:00pm will be auctioned off to raise money for the Autumn Show funds (it’s an expensive business, you know!)

How to enter into the Show
In order to enter into the show, please download the Rules and the Schedules, and an entry form.
Then
have a look at the show schedule to decide which classes you’d like to enter.
Then fill in the entry form and drop it off, along with your entry fee, to Maggie McDonald, Brown Dog House, 29a Bath Road, Atworth. If you aren’t delivering by hand, please include a stamped, self addressed envelope, so that we can post you the relevant information.
If you prefer, you can email the completed form to gemmabuckle@talktalk.net, although you will not receive the information until you drop off the entry fee.
